For successful life-long weight loss and maintenance, incorporating weight loss exercises is essential, much like adopting healthy nutrition habits.



Studies have demonstrated that people who develop the habit of regular, moderate physical activity are most successful at maintaining their weight. Exercise does not have to be strenuous to be effective in weight control. Any moderate, physical activity that you enjoy and will do regularly will play a key role in maintaining your overall health. Just get moving!

One of the primary obstacles people face in sticking with a consistent exercise regimen, is finding an activity that they enjoy. For many people, exercising for the sake of exercising does not provide enough motivation to remain consistent. For this reason, I feel it is critically important to find an activity that you really enjoy doing as a way of getting consistent exercise. This way you look forward to it rather than feeling a sense of reluctant obligation to do it.

There are many weight loss exercises to choose from. In fact, there are many physical activities that will provide a reasonable amount of exercise that you might not consider “exercise.” For example, consistently doing some ordinary daily activities like walking the dog are great exercises for losing weight.

If you ask 10 people what the best exercise is for weight loss, you would likely get 10 different answers. However, most experts feel that a combination of aerobic exercise and resistance training with weights provides the best exercise for weight loss. For example, combine aerobic activities like running or cycling with weight training throughout the week to get the most out of your exercise routine. Again, what’s best for you is greatly determined by what you like to do and will do consistently.

It is helpful to choose good diet programs online that are both safe and effective.

As you make progress on your nutrition-based weight loss program and are ready to incorporate a more consistent exercise regimen, you may want to consider working with a local gym or fitness center to create a weight loss exercise program tailored to you. These facilities typically have staff members that are trained to create weight loss workouts that incorporate a balanced set of exercise activities. They will generally be happy to work with you to incorporate activities that you prefer to help you stay interested and motivated.

Personally, I like running as a regular exercise activity. This is in part because running is a very healthy exercise activity, but also because I enjoy running and being outdoors. To get the most benefit from your running, though, there are some important things to consider such as varying the intensity of your runs on certain days and incorporating intervals and speed work.

As you incorporate exercise into your weight loss efforts, it is a great idea to log your exercise with an exercise log. Tracking your physical activity is a valuable tool that will help you achieve your overall health improvement goals.
